Maintenance Technician II


Essential duties include working in conjunction with the management team (QA, Production, Logistics, Maintenance, etc.) to provide oversight and effective communication for the company’s maintenance and production departments.

Job Requirements:

Must meet all requirements of Maintenance Tech I:

  • The employee will troubleshoot, maintain and repair mechanical equipment and facilities, and aid in the manufacturing of all company products in a safe and sanitary work environment.
  • Perform emergency repairs in breakdown situations.
  • Willing to work a 5 day; split weekend shift system with weekend and night standby “on call.”
  • Some overtime & weekend/”off hours” availability as needed even without forecast.
  • Perform and follow all OSHA guidelines regarding work and safety manuals.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on all equipment as scheduled.
  • Ensure all programs are being upheld and documentation is current.
  • Maintain completed daily record of work performed on maintenance software.
  • Process requisitions to replace parts used.
  • Write simple correspondence, and complete manufacturing documentation completely.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

In addition the candidate must also meet the following requirements:

  • Analyze electro/mechanical problems of dairy processing and packaging equipment, and auxiliary equipment. (Includes assisting manufacturing personnel on process related problems).
  • Work on low and high voltage transformers, motors, motor starters, and switch gear.s
  • Assist machine operators in determining when the machine should be shut down due to mechanical or electrical problems.
  • Perform established preventative maintenance procedures on plant equipment and complete appropriate paperwork.
  • Execute assigned projects under the direction of the Maintenance Manager/Planner.
  • Expected to work overtime during occasional equipment breakdowns/malfunctions and scheduled shutdowns.

Qualifications and Experience

  • HS Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to disassemble and assemble all parts of machines and support equipment according to the manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of HVAC and refrigeration systems.
  • Must be able to assess all areas of machines and support equipment in Dairy facility.
  • Able to read electrical schematics and mechanical blueprints.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of hydraulic / pneumatic systems.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of boiler function and operation.
  • Comprehensive metal working/machining skills
  • 3 years’ experience in maintenance divisions or experience in a related position.
  • Quickly able to troubleshoot/repair pumps, valves and packaging equipment.
  • Quickly able to provide comprehensive electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Must be able to TIG weld.
  • Knowledge of industrial 3-phase power, including AC and DC motors, relay logic and programmable control logic.
  • Knowledge of Siemens / PLC strongly preferred.
  • Must possess a working knowledge of power transmission equipment, mechanical drawings, scales, and symbols.
  • At least 3+ years’ experience in manufacturing: food manufacturing a plus.
  • Prior experience in maintenance/dairy industry.
  • Intermediate Computer Skill (i.e. Word, Excel, etc).
  • Excellent Troubleshoot Experience.
  • Ability to work well with people.
  • Communication skills are a must.
  • Multi-tasked Individual.
  • Ability to work independently.

  • Maintaining food safety and food quality through completing job tasks and maintaining the work area in a sanitary manner.
  • Report food safety problems to personal with authority to initiate action.
  • Ensure all programs are being upheld and documentation is current.
